500g barnyard millet

Water

Salt (optional)

Instructions:


Rinse the barnyard millet under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer to remove any debris.

In a pot, combine the rinsed barnyard millet with water. The general ratio for cooking millet is 1 part millet to 2.5-3 parts water.

Optional: Add salt to taste to the pot for seasoning.

Bring the pot to a boil over medium-high heat.

Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid.

Let the barnyard millet simmer gently for about 15-20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the millet is tender. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Once the millet is cooked to your liking, remove it from the heat and let it sit, covered, for a few minutes before serving.

Fluff the cooked barnyard millet with a fork before serving.
